Roses & Goblets.

The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) had a Hadi (camel driver) called Anjasha. On a journey Anjasha was chanting (singing) to make the camels go fast. The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said to him: “O Anjasha, drive slowly with the goblets!” Abu Qilaba (radi Allahu anhu) said, “By the ‘goblets’ he meant the women riding the camels.” [Sahih Bukhari]

A goblet is a delicate and beautiful glass vessel. By referring to women as goblets and telling his camel driver to go slower with them, the Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) was showing us with what care Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) wants women to be treated. Islam offers a woman protection, love and care.

On the other hand, there are some women who would rather be stainless steel mugs than crystal goblets. When a person has no value for Allah’s favours on them and prefers to reject them, all one can do is pity them.
